Moondance: Part 1: Confrontation by Vince-T Moondance: Part 1: Confrontation by Vince-T
Backgrond: The galaxy is in turmoil, choking under the tightening grip of evil. A radical cult of Force users calling themselves the Brotherhood of Shadows aim to either convert or erradicate both the jedi and the Sith and create a new order that is free of the dogmatic constraints of dark and light.

Shiromy Gitann, the now redeemed former Sith Lady Darth Pyra, has volunteered to infiltrate the Brotherhood, given the cults' great interest in her powers and her apparent instability, torn between the sides. Working her way up through the ranks Shiromy gains the attention of the cult's leader, Darius Rygetto and is resolved to gain his trust and with it the secrets to exploit the Brotherhood's strengths and weaknesses.

Time passes and Shiromy's husband, Vince Trageton, grows impatient and uneasy, fearing that the cult leader may have indoctrinated her just like the others. After a failed assassination attempt on himself Vince decides to take actions and follow Shiromy to the cult's lair.

Vince's infiltration does not go as smoothly as expected and, while Shiromy had actually managed to maintain a clear head he himself falls victim to Darius Rygetto's vicious manipulation. In the end he believes that Rygetto actually turned Shiromy to their cause and accuses her of betraying him....

They both remained still, staring at each other. Vince's face was unnaturally distorted by fury and strain, a truly frightening sight. Around them she heard insisting whispers from the acolytes. "Do it!" and "Kill the traitor!" In fact she wasn't even sure, whom of them they were addressing.
"Vince, you don't have to do this!" Shiromy once again insisted. "I am not your enemy!"
"You are one of them now!" Vince said reproachfully and pointed at her with one hand, while he motioned at the surrounding cultists with the lightsaber. "That makes you my enemy!"
"Come to your senses, Vince!" Shiromy barked and anger boiled up inside her about his stubbornness and lack of insight. "Whatever Rygetto told you was a lie to turn us against each other, don't you see it?"
"Enough!" Vince growled and rose his blade again. "You won't deceive me again, Shiromy!"
"Deceive you?" She repeated - suddenly out of breath. That accusation hit her like a smack in the face. Did he really trust Rygetto's word over hers? Shiromy found herself standing there, dumbfounded and speechless, almost dropping her lightsaber. A stormtide of thoughts and feelings raged through her. Disappointment. Sorrow. Betrayal. Had Darius really managed to disunite them that far? How blind had she been not to see this coming? No ... she had seen it coming, from afar. But she had been too passive, too paralyzed, unable to do anything about it. "Damnit, Vince! Don't do this to me!" She cried out with trembling voice and turned away from him, away from that twisted grimace. But what she found were only more cultists, surrounding them, inciting them. "Darius is your enemy, not I!" She tried hard to fight the tears that threatened to blurr her vision. "I love you!"
"That doesn't matter now!" Vince rejected and his anger gave way to bitterness. "You are one of them - and I will do what is necessary to purge this evil."
That statement was absolute. And Shiromy realized that there was no turning back. "Then you have fallen indeed." She said in resignation. "Just like I said you would." Of all of Darius' malicious schemes, this was by far his greatest coup. It seemed to her now that everything that had happened before had led to this point. The corruption and the fall of Vince Trageton now seemed complete. Before her she saw the acolytes, gazing at her, their eyes gleaming with sadistic joy at her pain. They didn't realize yet that regardless of how this would end, it would mean their end as well. Strangely now, an unusual calm settled within her. Pragmatic. Rational. Vince had been corrupted. A part of her accepted that as a fact. No point in dwelling on distracting feelings of regret and guilt. Work with what is given. If this was what it took to set him straight, then so be it! She could still hear the words of her Jedi teachers in her head - warnings not to give in to the tempation, not to let her anger control her. But she didn't give much about that anymore. Her so-called masters had betrayed her. Arlan Toth had been deceiving them all along and delivered her to the Brotherhood in an attempt to turn her into just another of their minions. And Skywalker ... he had allowed all this to happen, he had been the one pulling the strings. The jedi had betrayed and abandoned her. Worse: their inability to defend themselves and their hesitation to take proper actions in time had led to all this. And so those warnings rang hollow in her mind. She didn't need their advice anymore. She was no petty learner - and she was no longer afraid to cross the boundaries and do what they couldn't. She knew what she was doing. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath. The calm before the storm. The last hesitation, as she braced herself to jump into the abyss. No more pretending. No mad spirit controling her mind. This one was for real. "One of them" she repeated his words dismissively and her voice found its strength again. Vince wanted to see evil? She would show him an evil unlike anything he had ever seen. Clenching her fists she broke the mental restraints that she had laid upon herself and delved into the depths of the darkside. When she opened her eyes again, they burned with fire, her darkside aura erupted like an explosion. "Let me remind you, what I am."
